Erler: Integration, concrete actions
Concrete actions and not words, otherwise Albania has no chance to receive the EU candidate status.

This is the declaration of the Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Group of the German Social Democratic Party, who visited Tirana recently.

“In the last visits I have closely seen the Albanian political stalemate. Now that the opposition returned to Parliament, the expectancies are high. The goal of my visit was to offer help for overcoming this stalemate, about which I spoke in the meetings with the Albanian politicians.

It is time for both parties to be more flexible and cooperative. This is the only way for Albania, because it faces important challenges such as the 12 recommendations, now known by everyone. Without progress in this direction, there are no chances for receiving the candidate status, which would approach your country to EU”, Erler declared.

The German MP Erler commented about the failed attempt of the German ambassador for making the Prime Minister Berisha and the opposition leader Edi Rama shaking their hands.

“It is strange, because competition is something known in politics, but a handshake is the most normal thing to do, or even having a beer together. Albania is different and we have to keep this in mind. But I hope that despite the lack of the signals, we will see a cooperation between the parties, and this is important for Albania’s future”, Erler declared.

The European MP sees Albania’s EU integration with skepticism.

The Propositions of the Socialist Party for changing the Parliament Regulation might not be accepted by the majority, especially for returning the law of secret voting of the Presidential Decrees and for the nomination of the Constitutional Court members and the Supreme Court.

The majority has not given an official stance yet, since the propositions of the opposition are not official, but during an interview for the Voice of America, Mrs. Topalli strongly defended this Parliamentary Regulation clause that the Socialists want to nullify. She said that it has the highest transparency standard, also used in the US Congress.

“In the US Congress it is the transparency principle that prevails. In the US Congress it is unimaginable to vote in secrecy, because it is unthinkable to have a secret voting. The MPs must be responsible for their actions in front of the citizens who elected them. Not only the judges are elected with this kind of transparency, but the Parliament Speaker is also elected with nominal vote. Recognition, Jahjaga and Thaci to New York

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, traveled to New York for the General Assembly of the United Nations, which starts this Tuesday.

The news comes from “REL”, which refers to the Presidential councilor for the media, Arber Vllahiu.

The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci traveled to New York one day ago.

Jahjaga and Thaci, with their presence at the Crystal Palace, will meet world leaders in the lobbing process for new Kosovo independence recognition.

Official Prishtina is expecting new recognitions, which are expected to come from African and Latin American countries.

The President Jahjaga will hold a speech at the Columbia University, with the topic “Kosovo’s future road”.

During a tour that Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Behgjet Pacolli undertook in Africa, Kosovo has been recognized by Central Africa, Guinea Conakry, Benin, Niger and Gabon.

The Kosovo Foreign Minister, Enver Hoxhaj declared that Egypt has promised to recognize Kosovo independence very soon.
