Sieben Tote bei Angriff auf Geheimdienst in Aden

Sanaa (IRIB) – Bewaffnete Männer haben heute bei einem Angriff auf die Geheimdienstzentrale in der jemenitischen Hafenstadt Aden sieben Sicherheitsbeamte getötet.

Vier weitere Beamte erlitten Verletzungen, bestätigten Polizeiquellen in der Hauptstadt Sanaa.

Die Extremisten, die dem Terrornetzwerk Al-Kaida zugerechnet werden, hatten das Gebäude unter Einsatz von Panzerfäusten, Handgranaten und Schusswaffen gestürmt, berichteten Augenzeugen.

Nach den Polizeiangaben waren unter den Toten auch zwei weibliche Beamte und ein Amtsarzt. Bei dem Überfall handelte es sich anscheinend um einen Versuch, Gefangene aus der Geheimdienstzentrale zu befreien. Ob das gelang, war zunächst nicht klar.

In dem Gebäude der Abteilung für Politische Sicherheit des regionalen Geheimdienstes befindet sich ein Hochsicherheitstrakt, in dem mutmaßliche Al-Kaida-Terroristen und Anhänger der südjemenitischen Separatisten-Bewegung festgehalten werden.

FBI FOUND 14 INTEL LEAK SUSPECTS IN PAST 5 YEARS

The Federal Bureau of Investigation identified 14 suspected “leakers” of classified U.S. intelligence information during the past five years, according to newly disclosed statistics (pdf).

Between 2005 and 2009, U.S. intelligence agencies submitted 183 “referrals” to the Department of Justice reporting unauthorized disclosures of classified intelligence.  Based on those referrals or on its own initiative, the FBI opened 26 leak investigations, and the investigations led to the identification of 14 suspects.

“While DOJ and the FBI receive numerous media leak referrals each year, the FBI opens only a limited number of investigations based on these referrals,” the FBI explained in a written response to a question from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).

“In most cases, the information included in the referral is not adequate to initiate an investigation. The most typical information gap is a failure to identify all those with authorized access to the information, which is the necessary starting point for any leak investigation. When this information is sufficient to open an investigation, the FBI has been able to identify suspects in approximately 50% of these cases over the past 5 years.  Even when a suspect is identified, though, prosecution is extremely rare (none of the 14 suspects identified in the past 5 years has been prosecuted),” the FBI said.

The FBI report to Congress predated the indictment of suspected NSA leaker Thomas A. Drake, who was presumably one of the 14 suspects that the FBI identified.  The case of Shamai Leibowitz, the FBI contract linguist who pled guilty to unauthorized disclosures in December 2009, is not reflected in the new report and may be outside the scope of intelligence agency leaks that were the subject of the congressional inquiry.

The FBI recommended that agencies continue to report unauthorized disclosures of classified information to the Department of Justice for possible criminal investigation, but it said they should also consider imposing their own administrative penalties.  “Because indictments in media leak cases are so difficult to obtain, administrative action may be more suitable and may provide a better deterrent to leaks of classified information,” the FBI said.

The previously unreported statistical information on unauthorized disclosures of classified intelligence information was transmitted to Congress on April 8, 2010 and was published this month in the record of a September 16, 2009 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing (pdf).

“As a matter of national security and employment discipline, it is important that leakers face repercussions for improper disclosure of classified information,” Sen. Whitehouse said.  This formulation notably implies that a leaker should be subject to punishment even if no damage to national security results from the unauthorized disclosure, so as to bolster an agency’s authority over its employees.

The Obama Administration has adopted an increasingly hard line toward leaks of classified information with multiple prosecutions pending or underway, as noted recently in Politico (May 25) and the New York Times (June 11).  A recent memorandum from the Director of National Intelligence will “streamline” the processing of leak investigations, Newsweek reported June 11.

Interior Minister condemns Aslani release

BELGRADE — Interior Minister Ivica Dačič said that the decision of an EULEX judge to release terrorism suspect Bajram Aslani from custody is surprising and condemnable. He is wanted in Serbia and America for involvement in the planning of terrorist attacks in America, Kosovo and other locations. Bajram Aslani  Dačič said that Serbia expects that the international presence in Kosovo will take into consideration the demands of the Serbian courts and that it will also respect the American demands for processing Aslani, as one of the leaders of an extremist radical Islamic group in the province. He added that Aslani’s released “can point to the fact that there are suspicions of some double standards for members of Albanian radical groups.” Aslani is also suspected of planning terrorist attacks in Jordan and the Gaza Strip. Dačič said that operative information of the Serbian police shows that Aslani came into the possession of plastic explosives in Bosnia last year, which were taken to Kosovo, adding that the explosives were planned to be used in a terrorist attack in central Serbia. “Operative information of our police also shows that Aslani is still a member of the Wahhabi movement and that he was in close relations and ties with known radical Islamists on the territory of Novi Pazar and Sjenica,” Dačič said. Dačič also said that there is information pointing to the fact that Aslani had organized a Wahhabi camp that was uncovered in a police action in March 2007.

Kosovar National Charged with Terrorism Violations

RALEIGH, NC—Bajram Asllani, 29, a resident of Mitrovica, Kosovo, has been charged in a criminal complaint with providing material support to terrorists and conspiring to murder, kidnap, maim, and injure persons abroad, David Kris, Assistant Attorney General for National Security; George E.B. Holding, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina; Owen D. Harris, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Charlotte Field Division; and Robin Pendergraft, Director of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, announced today.

Asllani, also known as “Bajram Aslani,” or “Ebu Hatab,” was arrested earlier today by authorities in Kosovo in connection with a U.S. provisional arrest warrant issued in the Eastern District of North Carolina. The United States intends to seek his extradition from Kosovo to stand trial in Raleigh. In accordance with the extradition agreement between the United States and Kosovo, Asllani faces a potential maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted.

Last July, eight defendants were indicted in the Eastern District of North of Carolina on charges of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists; conspiracy to murder, kidnap, maim and injure persons abroad; and other violations. Those charged were Daniel Patrick Boyd, a U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina; Hysen Sherifi, a native of Kosovo and a U.S. legal permanent resident in North Carolina; Anes Subasic, a naturalized U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina; Zakariya Boyd, a U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina; Dylan Boyd, a U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina; Jude Kenan Mohammad, a U.S. citizen; Mohammad Omar Aly Hassan, a U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina; and Ziyad Yaghi, a U.S. citizen and resident of North Carolina.

A superseding indictment returned on Sept. 24, 2009, added new charges against Daniel Patrick Boyd, Hysen Sherifi and Zakariya Boyd, alleging, among other things, that Daniel Boyd and Sherifi conspired to murder U.S. military personnel as part of a plot to attack troops at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia. These three defendants were also charged with possession of weapons in furtherance of a crime of violence and Daniel Boyd was further charged with providing a firearm to a convicted felon.

An April 19, 2010, criminal complaint unsealed today alleges that Asllani was a member of the conspiracy involving the defendants listed above. Specifically, the complaint alleges that Asllani has had repeated communications with the conspirators; solicited money from the conspirators to establish a base of operations in Kosovo for the purpose of waging violent jihad; tasked the conspirators with completing work to further these objectives and accepted funds from the conspirators to help him travel.

Fort Dix is used to train members of the Army Reserve and National Guard for missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world.

It was used in 1999 to house ethnic Albanian refugees from Kosovo, according to the Defense Department Web site.

Präsidentenwahl, Koalitionschaos, Euro-Krise: Die Bundeskanzlerin muss endlich offen sagen, wie es um Deutschland steht - und einen Weg aus der Misere weisen. Lesen Sie hier die Rede, die Angela Merkel jetzt halten sollte - aber leider nie halten wird.

Ich könnte jetzt zurücktreten. Aber was würde das ändern? Glauben Sie tatsächlich, dass Sigmar Gabriel, Renate Künast oder das neue Doppel an der Spitze der Linken einen besseren Plan haben? Können sie gar nicht.

Denn es ist ja so: Wenn am Monatsende alle Beamtengehälter und alle Pensionen bezahlt sind, wenn alle Sozialtransfers, Zinsen, Tilgung und alle weiteren Fixkosten überwiesen wurden, dann haben wir keinen Cent mehr für die Gestaltung der Zukunft. Dafür müssen wir neue Schulden machen. Und eine ebenfalls beschwiegene Wahrheit lautet, dass nicht mehr wir es sind und nicht die Wähler, die darüber befinden, wie wir in unserem Land leben und arbeiten wollen, sondern die sogenannten Finanzmärkte, also Anleger, Millionäre, Milliardäre. Denen ist es egal, wer unter ihnen regiert – solange sie niemand beim Spekulieren stört und alle paar Jahre von der Politik die Trümmerhaufen beseitigt werden. Sie, die Märkte, haben die eigentliche Gestaltungsmacht, aber leider keinen Plan, sondern nur kurzfristige Gewinninteressen, die uns langfristig in eine Zukunft führen, die niemand gewollt haben wird.

Nur ein Beispiele fuer Vieles, wie eng eine korrupte Justiz in Berlin mit Profi Verbrecher Banden verbunden ist!
