Albania Curbs Bank Exposure to Markets

28 October 2008 Tirana _ Albania’s Central Bank is to limit the investments foreign banks in the country make to their parent companies, in an effort to thwart the effect of the global financial crisis.

According to the new regulations, foreign banks currently operating in Albania would not be allowed to invest more than 10 per cent of their capital in parent companies.
Previously the limit was 25 percent.

The move also aims to counteract a possible economic slowdown by making sure that there is ample credit for the internal market.

Foreign companies currently control 95 per cent of Albania’s banking market. Austria’s Raiffeisen, Italy’s Intesa Sanpaolo, Greece’s Alpha Bank and France’s Societe Generale, which owns 75 percent of Banka Popullore, are among the largest. Only Credins bank is owned by a consortium of local investors.

According to recently published report, financial institutions in southeast Europe remain bullish about growth prospects, despite the global downturn.

These expert terrorists are being prepared in Albania for their specific missions in the West.

This training program is conducted under the cover of the Albanian National Army (ANA or AKSh in Albanian) with most senior trainers and commanders being “mujahedin who retreated from Bosnia” and are affiliated with al-Qaida.

Kosovo will mark another milestone next June, when it inaugurates its own security force.

Kosovo will have its own security force by the middle of June 2009, authorities said on Friday (October 24th) as they announced an end to the current Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC). Disbandment of the KPC “will be completed on December 10th 2008, while the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will be created by the middle of June 2009,” KSF head Fehmi Mujota said after a meeting with parliament’s Commission for Security.

He confirmed that Pristina and NATO are co-ordinating the transition. Preparations are already under way, including the acquisition of uniforms.

The new, lightly armed force will be primarily responsible for crisis response, ordnance disposal and civil protection. KFOR will monitor its operations.

“Creation of the KSF is going as we planned,” said Mujota. He added authorities would select personnel through a competitive process. The current KPC has over 5,000 members, but its successor will only be half that size.

According to Rrustem Mustafa, head of the parliamentary commission, the government is planning some form of “institutional support” for members of the outgoing KPC. Their fate is a matter of some concern, since many will not find positions in the much smaller KSF. In all, the force will have 2,500 active troops and 800 reserves.

Unemployment in Kosovo is the highest in Europe, approximately 40%.

Kosovo has already received international assurances of help with the transition process. On Monday, German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung announced that his country will allocate 7m euros towards setting up the KSF…………….

Senior US military advisers detached from private mercenary companies
are working with KLA-NLA commanders. NLA Commander Gezim Ostremi, was
trained by British Special Forces to head the UN sponsored Kosovo
Protection Corps (KPC).4 Confirmed by British military sources, the
task of arming and training of the KLA had been entrusted in 1998 to
the US Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Britain’s Secret
Intelligence Services MI6, together with ”former and serving members
of 22 SAS [Britain’s 22nd Special Air Services Regiment], as well as
three British and American private security companies”.5:
“‘The US DIA approached MI6 to arrange a training programme for the
KLA,’ said a senior British military source. `MI6 then sub-contracted
the operation to two British security companies, who in turn
approached a number of former members of the (22 SAS) regiment. Lists
were then drawn up of weapons and equipment needed by the KLA.’ While
these covert operations were continuing, serving members of 22 SAS
Regiment, mostly from the unit’s D Squadron, were first deployed in
Kosovo before the beginning of the bombing campaign in March. 6
OPERATION ”ESSENTIAL HARVEST”: REPLICATING KOSOVO
The First and Third Parachute battalions (”1 PARA” and ”3 PARA”)
detached to Macedonia under Operation ”Essential Harvest” have a
history of active collaboration with the KLA. The British Paras led
the invasion into Kosovo in June 1999 in liaison with KLA forces.7
The evidence amply confirms that the US and British
military-intelligence establishment has continued to support the KLA
in its terrorist operations in Macedonia:
“two of the Kosovo-based commanders leading the Albanian push [into
the Tetovo region] were trained by former British SAS and Parachute
Regiment officers… [A] commander with the nom de guerre of Bilal was
organising the flow of arms and men into Macedonia, and … veteran KLA
commander Adem Bajrami was helping to co-ordinate the assault on
Tetovo. Both were taught by British soldiers in the secretive
training camps that operated above Bajram Curri in northern Albania
during 1998 and 1999. ”8

US-Republikaner Alaska-Senator wegen Korruption verurteilt Eine Woche vor der US-Kongresswahl ist der republikanische Senator Ted Stevens in einem Korruptionsskandal schuldig gesprochen worden. Der Polit-Veteran stammt aus Alaska - wie Sarah Palin, die sich um Distanz bemüht.

Zu Kongresswahl am 4. November, die gleichzeitig mit dem Urnengang zur Präsidentschaft stattfindet, tritt der 84-jährige Partei-Veteran wieder an - ob er seinen bis vor kurzem sicher geglaubten Posten verteidigen kann, ist mehr als fraglich. Denn Ted Stevens, der den durch und durch konservativen Bundesstaat Alaska in Washington vertritt, ist wegen Falschaussage und Korruption verurteilt worden. Ein Geschworenenjury im heimischen Anchorage befand ihn nach Medienberichten diesen Montag für schuldig, über Wohltaten und Geschenke im Umfang von rund 250.000 Dollar (etwa 200.000 Euro) gelogen zu haben, die ihm eine Ölfirma zukommen ließ. Unter anderem finanzierte das Unternehmen Veco die umfassende Renovierung seines Hauses und zahlte für Möbel. Der frühere Firmenchef Bill Allen hatte sich zuvor in einem anderen Verfahren der Bestechung von Staatsbeamten schuldig bekannt. Palin bemüht sich um Distanz Stevens wurde in allen sieben Anklagepunkten schuldig gesprochen. Jeder Punkt könnte ihm laut Strafgesetzen fünf Jahre Haft einbringen, aber eine weitaus geringere Freiheits- oder gar Bewährungsstrafe gelten als wahrscheinlicher. Ein Datum für die Urteilsverkündung wurde zunächst nicht festgelegt. Stevens ist nach geltenden Regeln auch als verurteilter Straftäter nicht gezwungen, sein Senatsmandat niederzulegen. Am Montag bekräftigte er sichtlich erschüttert, dass er unschuldig sei.

Gouverneurin von Alaska und republikanische Kandidatin für Amt des Vizepräsidenten, Sarah Palin. Die hat das Verhalten ihres Parteikollegen Stevens wiederholt scharf kritisiert. Das Urteil zeige den korrupten Einfluss eines Ölunternehmens, das in Alaska zu viel zu sagen hatte.

Palin sagte, sie sei gewählt worden, um diese korrupten Seilschaften zu bekämpfen. “Dieser Kampf muss weiter gehen, ungeachtet der Partei, der Erfahrung oder vergangener Leistungen”, sagte Palin.

Am Ende wurde Traficant nicht abgewählt, sondern der Korruption und anderer Vergehen schuldig gesprochen. Seine Haftstrafe endet 2010. Kommt er wieder?
